JAIPUR: The hospitality industry in Jaipur is rather confused just three days before the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas kicks off in the city. While official sources claim that the event would host a delegation of 1,500 NRIs representing 65 countries, none of the prominent city hotels confirmed any bookings for the event.
"There is no big momentum in the hospitality sector at the moment. NRIs generally book hotels in advance. Besides the routine bookings, we have no reservations for the PBD. Corporate bookings do come 48 hours in advance, so lets hope for the best," said Sunil Gupta, general manager, ITC Rajputana Sheraton.
Echoing a similar mood, Avneesh Mathur, general manager, Country Inn & Suites, said, "The much-hyped event has made no difference to our bookings. Initially, the tour operators booked a lot of rooms for the PBD which were all released about 45 days back owing to lack of demand." Tour operators also claim that the situation does not look too bright.
