Worker held over human trafficking

DUBAI,Jan8: - The Dubai Police have arrested an Asian worker for allegedly forcing Asian women into prostitution, including a 15-year-old girl.According to Colonel Mohammed Al Murr, Director of the Legal and Human Rights Department of the police, the suspect arranged tourist visas to bring the women to the country.
The suspect was so meticulous in his operation that he had fixed surveillance cameras in the corridor of the flat he was using as a prostitution den and kept a computer monitor in the storeroom to watch the footage. Col Al Murr said the police received information about the suspicious activities in the apartment and kept a watch on it. The officers finally raided it and arrested the worker. Six women aged between 20 and 30 were in the flat at the time. He led the police to another flat where a 15-year-old girl was kept. The page that shows the age in her passport was tampered with. The women told the police that the suspect had promised them jobs and brought them here. He would receive them at the airport and take away their passports before driving them to the flat.
Col Al Murr said the suspect forged the passport of the minor girl with assistance from someone to bring her to the country. The women said the suspect had forcible sex with them and used to bring men to the flat to have sex with them. He prevented them from going out. He has been referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution on the charge of human trafficking. Col Al Murr said the police are coordinating with the authorities concerned and monitoring some companies which got tourist visas issued for women of certain nationalities. Some of the companies were shut down for trading in visas without any control and help bring in poor women who needed jobs badly and were cheated.
