The retired general who has also been named in the assassination of former Balochistan governor Nawab Akbar Bugti was last week warned by his son that he would be accorded “red carpet” welcome and repeated his offer to pay head money of Rs 1 billion to anybody who kills Musharraf. Musharraf cited decision by his All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) advising him to delay his return because of hostile atmosphere for delaying his comeback. Earlier, Musharraf had announced to arrive in Pakistan between January 27 and 30. A Press released issued by the party here said the retired general would delay his return on the advice of his “friends”, who said that coming back to atmosphere in Pakistan right now might not be favourable for him. Mohammed Amjad, senior vice president in Musharraf’s All Pakistan Muslim League, told AFP that “no final decision had yet been taken” but said the retired general would make an announcement on his plans “later, perhaps today”. “His friends and party officials want him to postpone it for sometime. This was discussed yesterday at a meeting and conveyed to him,” Amjad said.
