Dhaka, Sep 30 (PTI) Bangladesh today claimed that it has found no wanted Indian criminal inside its territory in extensive searches carried out by it in line with a list of fugitives provided by New Delhi. We have carried out extensive searches at different places inside the country in line with a list provided to Bangladesh by the Indian government but no such elements were found so far, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Maj Gen Anwar Hossain said. His remarks came at a joint press conference at the end of his five-day talks with BSF Director General Raman Srivastava here. Hossain, however, said that search for such elements will continue and Bangladesh will not allow its territory to be used by foreign terrorists. Officials familiar with the talks said frontier shootouts largely dominated the parleys. Srivastava said that civilians should steer clear of the border line at night to avoid such incidents. Border shootouts have long been a source of tension between the two countries, but after the summit between the two Prime Ministers (earlier this month), it has come down, Hossain said. Both Srivastava and Hossain said there will be a coordinated effort to manage long and porous border under an already developed management plan agreed between the two countries during a Home Minister-level meeting in Dhaka in July. They said the joint management system was expected to resolve all outstanding frontier issues, including combating cross-border crimes, and enhance quality of border management as well as ensure cross-border security. Srivastava was heading a 21-member Indian team at the talks, while Hossain led a 23-strong Bangladeshi side.
