Indian-American accused in hit-and-run case flees to India‎

Washington, April 4,2012: An Indian-American, allegedly involved in a hit-and-run case that killed a 28-year-old woman, has fled to India, prompting the US police and FBI to launch a joint operation to locate him. Pawanjit Singh, 25, a resident of San Jose in California, has been charged in connection with the death of Jennifer Flores, who was found on the road in Sunnyvale area on March 25 with several injuries and shifted to a local hospital where she succumbed to her wounds, police said. Sunnyvale detectives are working with the FBI and the US Marshall’s Office to locate the suspect, who boarded a flight for Dubai and then to India on March 26. During investigations, the detectives determined that Flores was initially a passenger in the vehicle and was later pushed out and run over by it. A local district court on March 28 issued an arrest warrant for homicide against Singh with a bail amount of USD 1 million, as well as a search warrant for the suspect’s residence.
