New Delhi, February 5,2012: A Hong Kong-based Indian businessman has alleged he was cheated to the tune of Rs.2.55 crore by two Delhi residents who promised to supply him silicon manganese for selling to Arcelor Mittal, police said Thursday. Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing registered a case Wednesday on the basis of the complaint filed by Satish C. Mishra, the Director of Sino-Global Sourcing and Supply. Mishra alleged in his complaint that he had paid around Rs 2.55 crore as advance to the two ‘businessmen’ over a period of time after entering into a contract with their company — Sharp Ferro Alloys Limited. “I am an business man of Indian Origin and Indian passport holder operating my business from mainly China and Hong Kong. I have also come to know in the business circle that the two are habitual fraudsters who have cheated and defrauded a number of businessman by their peculiar well knit pattern of trapping people in their net,” said Mishra in his complaint. He approached the Delhi-based Sharp Ferro Alloys LTd in May 2009 after his firm got queries from Laxmi Mittal-owned Arcelor Mittal about supply of silicon manganese. In August that year, they entered into a contract.
