SHARJAH,11 January 2012: A 32-year-old Pakistani worker who was working in a building under construction in Al Buhairah Corniche died on the spot when a scaffolding fell on him on Tuesday morning.
The deceased, identified as Y.D.S, was an employee of a contracting company based in Sharjah. The police said they received a call regarding the accident around 10am and rushed to the scene to find the man lying in a pool of blood. He was already dead. The body was shifted to the forensic laboratory and the police have started an investigation. The worker was not wearing a helmet and safety procedures to protect the workers were absent, the police said. This is the second such death in a workplace in the emirate two days as a 28-year-old Indian maintenance worker died on the spot after he fell from the eighth floor of a building in Al Shuwhain area while doing maintenance work for the elevator on Sunday.
