Punjab NRI minister urges Diaspora community to invest in state

Chandigarh, November 14: Punjab NRI minister Capt Balbir Singh Bath has asked the Indian Diaspora community to invest for the development of the state. The contribution of the NRI fraternity to the prosperity of the state was immense as their villages carried the stamp of their contribution as the state government had already launched a scheme in which if an NRI contributes 25 per cent for a development project at his native place, the government gave the remaining 50-75 per cent share. He said that path breaking initiatives for providing Punjab with world class infrastructure, opportunities for human resource development and people to government re-orientation were set to turn international focus on state, a global destination. He said the state was laying special emphasis on education and health services and major steps have been taken to streamline the education system.
