NRI community leader Dilip Chauhan honoured as ‘Rising Star 40 Under 40′

New York, November 14: Dilip Chauhan, an outstanding political and community activist from Flushing, was recently honoured as the “Rising Star 40 under 40” by NY City Hall. Every year NY City Hall compiles and publishes a list of top 40 rising stars under the age of 40. The list includes many persons who have either ran for political office or have been elected; political aides who have been instrumental in crafting important policy decisions, and persons who are making fighting for the New York city residents and making their concerns known to city hall etc. A long-time resident of Flushing, he has tirelessly championed the rights of immigrants which widely ranges from helping the immigrants navigate city’s bureaucracy to getting them involved in the electoral process. “I would like to offer my congratulations to Dilip Chauhan for being named a ‘Rising Star’ by City Hall News. You should be proud of all the service you provide to the South Asian community,” Councilman James F. Gennaro said. Chauhan is actively getting south Asian community involved in the electoral process to ensure that a south Asian district is created when districts are redrawn next year. Also he has worked on many campaigns as a South Asian Outreach Coordinator. “As the only Asian-American serving in the State Legislature, Dilip’s work is important to the growing Southeast Asian community. It is important that we work together to ensure that our government services are accessible to all communities”, New York State Assembly member Grace Meng said. Senator Stavisky’s praised Chauhan saying – “I have worked with Dilip Chauhan for a number of years on issues involving the South Asian American community, and his dedication is commendable. He has also been appointed as the Political Advisor to the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) 2011, a national organization representing Indian-origin doctors more than 110,000 in United States. Assembly member Rory Lancman said: “Dilip Chauhan has been a leader in bringing South Asian Community into the mainstream of New York Civic and Political life.” In 2007, Chauhan showed his skills as Fundraisers when he raised fund for New York AIDS walk, Tsunami Victims, PS 24 School Library Project and many more.
