NEW DELHI: India has cautioned China that insurgent groups like ULFA was getting refuge and arms in their
territory. Responding to questions regarding recent intelligence reports on ULFA chief Paresh Barua being traced to China, the MEA spokesperson, Vishnu Prakash said, "The presence of Indian insurgent groups in the region and availability of arms to them, has figured in our discussions with our Chinese friends in the past." He added that MEA had no credible information at present.Recent reports have quoted intelligence agencies as saying that they had traced Barua to Yunnan province in China when they traced his phone calls and found a perfect voice match. Barua opposes the government's reconciliation efforts. He was earlier in Bangladesh, but in recent years he moved to the border areas of Myanmar. The Indo-Myanmar security initiatives have pushed him to the China border, say intelligence sources. Intelligence agencies have also said that China was responsible for giving arms to insurgent groups as well as improvised explosion devices (IEDs). Media reports gave details of Barua's hideout in a two-storeyed house in Riulli, Yunnan province.
