GOPIO to hold its 2011 convention in New Jersey from Nov 18-20


New Jersey, November 16: Global Organization of People of Indian Origin- International is going to hold its 2011 convention in Iselin, New Jersey from November 18 to 20, 2011. The convention will discuss about the organisation’s 22 years history, progress, network, exchange ideas and connect with NRI around the world. There are more than 25 million people of Indian origin who live and work outside India. The Conference on the 19th November will evaluate, debate, discuss about the current and critical issues that confront people of Indian Origin.
The Chief Guest of Honour will be Indian ambassador to US Nirupama Rao. Notable VIPs from global Indian community are expected to be present at this convention. Key sponsors for this convention are Sabinsa Corporation and Kotak Mahindra bank.
GOPIO Founder and President Thomas Abraham said that GOPIO has come a long way in terms of sensitizing the governments on issues concerning the Indian Diaspora. He says that the Indian Diaspora has moved outside the political mainstream to political leadership. He also hopes the trend to continue. The main objective of this convention is to mobilize both financial and professional resources to help the Indian Diaspora and the countries they come from.
GOPIO Chairman said: “During the last few years, GOPIO has made rapid strides as there have been several new chapters and more awareness of GOPIO’s advocacy role for issues of the Indian Diaspora,” said Inder Singh, Chairman of GOPIO International. “We need to start more chapters which will further lead to more networking of the International Indian Diaspora,” continued Singh.
