Indian food in Wellington

I will not be wrong if I say "Indian food" is the favourite food of the world. I do not remember meeting someone who has something bad to say about Indian cuisine, everyone loves it. New Zealanders love Indian food and hence you will not struggle to find an Indian restaurant in New Zealand. Most Kiwis like mild dishes as they can hardly tolerate spicy Indian food. Auckland has very high Indian population, you will see lots of Indian restaurants and take outs in Auckland. It is not difficult to find a restaurant which serves a " Maharashtrian Thali" or "Gujrati Thali" in Auckland.
Wellington is very small city compared to Auckland but it has got a substantial Indian population. There are quite a few Indian restaurants in Wellington and I have eaten in almost all of them. "Little India" is the best restaurant for curries and biryani, I like their chicken Kadai and paneer shimla mirch. Starters served at little India are also quite mouth-watering, they do very good lamb chops, chicken achari, paneer aloo tiki and tandoori mushroom. If you are "chat addict" there is only one place in Wellington which can satisfy you "Delhi Brassiere". Delhi Brassiere is one of the few places in Wellington where you can find Indian sweets. There is another restaurant called "Curry Pot", they make very good Indian Chinese and their specialities are chicken chilly and paneer chilly.
If you are a pure vegetarian you will not go hungry, there is only one pure veg restaurant in Wellington called "Hare Krishna". Hare Krishna does vegetarian buffet and some vegan snacks, the food is awesome and everything they make is special as it is the 'food of faith'. There are three to four restaurants in Wellington where you can get South Indian food but my favourite is the restaurant called "Spice Traders" in Queensgate mall. Spice traders do 4-5 varieties of dosas and I also like their chole bature. Queensgate mall is located in the suburb called "Lower Hutt" which is about 20-25 minutes train/bus ride from Wellington city. For fine dining eaters I would recommend a restaurant called "Great India" in the city centre.
I have eaten in quite a few Indian restaurants around New Zealand and my favourite among all is a restaurant called "India Today" located in a small city of New Plymouth. I like pretty much everything they cook but their "chicken lababdar" is the best. Foodies need a small reason to travel to New Plymouth, but their main reason is to eat in India Today.
New Zealand is a beautiful country and people over here are very hospitable. Local cuisine in New Zealand is also quite mouth-watering. If you are visiting New Zealand you will have a chance to enjoy cuisines from different parts of the world with very satisfying Kiwi hospitality to top it up.                                                                               -
