PUDUCHERRY: Tamil Nadu chief minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalitha on Thursday accused her electoral partner All India NR Congress leader and Puducherry chief minister N Rangasamy of political betrayal as the latter declined from keeping their pre-poll agreement of power-sharing in Puducherry. Barely three days after their governments were sworn in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Jayalalitha in a statement said Puducherry people voted NR Congress-AIADMK alliance in 2011 polls mainly because of the trust they reposed in her and her party. "But Rangasamy took a unilateral decision to form the government on his own without inviting the AIADMK and has thus back-stabbed his ally," she said. Jaya said, "Rangasamy did to AIADMK what Congress did to him." Rangasamy had been forced to resign as Puducherry chief minister in August 2008 and in January 2011 he quit the Congress and floated his own outfit, almost on the election eve. Jayalalitha pointed out that she had greeted Rangasamy even before he was sworn in as the Puducherry chief minister but Rangasamy failed to reciprocate the courtesy and congratulate her on assuming power. Moreover Rangasamy preferred to seek the support of an independent candidate (VMC Sivakkumar) who defeated an AIADMK candidate to form the government, which is against the coalition 'dharma' (ethics). She declared that her party would function as a constructive opposition in the Union territory of Puducherry.
