Washington, May 6 (PTI) Al-Qaeda was planning to attack America's railway network, especially in key cities and bridges, so as to maximize casualties, reveals the preliminary set of information obtained from the huge cache of materials recovered from the Abbottabad hideout of Osama bin Laden.
Based on the information available, the Department of Homeland Security issued an intelligence message about potential al-Qaeda contemplation in February 2010 of plots against the US rail sector.
However, it said as of now it has no information of any imminent terrorist threat to the US rail sector, but wanted to make agencies aware of the alleged plotting; it is unclear if any further planning has been conducted since February of last year.

The biggest railway network is in America and it connects 48 American states. It connects a distance of 240000 kilometers and this distance is equal to five times the distance that surrounds the earth. Canada stands in the next place which covers the distance 7296 kilometers and Russia stands in third place which covers 85,500. India stands in fifth position in largest railway network. It covers 62658 kilometers and it created record by providing jobs for largest number of people.
