Thailand in talks with India to strengthen trade relations

Chennai, Mar 10:  Thailand is holding talks with India for strengthening trade relations between the two countries, a Thai envoy said here today. The Free Trade Agreement with India and Thailand along with ASEAN countries will conclude this year. We are holding negotiations with India to increase the number of products ..., Royal Thai Consul General Chanchai Charanvatnakit told reporters here. Observing that the increase in trade volumes will not only help India and Thailand but also ASEAN countries, he said at present 92 products across various sectors - food processing, furniture, semi-precious stones constitute a large part of the trade between the two countries. Besides, he said the bilateral trade relations between India and Thailand is USD 8.6 billion and is expected to increase rapidly in the coming years. In 2010-11, the trade was USD 8.6 billion. It will reach USD 14 billion in the next three years, he said. We invite Indian investors to come for Thailand, he said, adding that the industrialists from Thailand were interested to invest in India.
For Indian tourists visiting Thailand, he said, the Thailand government is offering visa on arrival for staying in that country for a maximum of up to 15 days.
