Indian-American community felicitates Mallikarjun Kharge with Pride of India award

Washington, January 31: Visiting Union Minister for Labor and Employment Mallikarjun Kharge has been presented with ‘Pride of India’ award by the Indian-American community for his over four decades of public service. The award was presented jointly by the Indian American Friendship Council (IAFC) and India Association of North Texas (IANT) at a reception hosted in honour of the visiting union minister in Dallas over the weekend.

Addressing the gathering, Kharge provided an update on various bilateral memoranda on items of mutual interest, such as mining safety, employment, social security and said that India’s GDP is poised to grow at a faster pace than most of the nations. Kharge reiterated his commitment to improve child education especially to strengthen the rural communities. “History has shown that great nations have influenced the world with their economic, diplomatic and cultural strength. I say with utmost pride that India and United States of America are examples of such great nations,” said Sridhar Reddy Korsapati, president of IANT. “Kharge is considered a competent leader with a clean public image and well versed in the dynamics of politics, legislation and administration,” said Prasad Thotakura of IAFC.
