HYDERABAD,Jan 27, 2012 : Clad in red saree, a woman, posing as a customer, decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs 3 lakh belonging to another customer at Kalyan Jewellers in Punjagutta on Tuesday. According to police, the victim— Srinivasa Rao (35), an NRI techie had come to the shop along with his wife, Anita, to purchase gold ornaments by selling some old jewellery.Around 6.30 pm, the couple reached the shop with 10 jewellery items.However, they did not like the price offered by the jewellers and decided against selling off the gold.But they purchased gold worth Rs 5 lakh from the same shop.
After purchasing the gold, the couple went to the counter to pay the bill and left the box containing old jewellery on their seat.While they were paying the bill, a 45 year-old woman entered the shop and sat on the chair previously occupied by Anita.Placing a paper on the box and after spending sometime there, she wrapped the box in the paper and walked out of the shop, Punjagutta police said.
