KARACHI,Jan28, 2012: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Friday vowed that he and his party would protect Sindh and would never allow any division of the province.Addressing a big public rally in Sukkur, Altaf said that the Sindh contributes 70 per cent of the revenue to the national exchequer and should be allocated its share as it would be impossible to run the country on the remaining 30 per cent. “All Sindhis are equal, there is no new or old and I hate the word ‘minority’ and my party was against feudalism and is struggling to eliminate it. Sindh needs a leader and not a dacoit,” said Altaf. The MQM chief called upon the provincial and federal government to release funds for development projects in Sukkur an important city of Pakistan and Sindh. Altaf also urged the government to establish a university and a college as well as a good quality hospital in Sukkur. Altaf expressed sorrow over the recent killings of lawyers in Karachi and claimed that anti-people elements were trying to pitch Shias against Sunnis. “It is a conspiracy to bring them face to face. I appeal to everyone to show restraint and foil all such conspiracies. I also urge the government to provide security to lawyers and journalists and take action to improve law and order situation in the province,” he added.
