Mumbai, Oct 13 (PTI) The number of Indian tourists visiting Germany has jumped to 26.6 per cent to over 3.17 lakh during January-July period, according to the German National Tourist Office here. The German National Tourist Office (GNTO) India Pool is a grouping that promotes Germany as a tourism destination. As many as 2,55,179 Indian tourists visited Germany in the same period a year ago. In a statement, GNTO India Pool said it would invest one million euros in the next three years as part of efforts to promote Germany as a tourism destination, in India. This investment will continue to be in the form of joint marketing and sales activities with tour operators, sales activity weeks in major cities across India and study tours for the press and travel trade, among other things, it noted. GNTO India Pool has already invested over 1 million euros in the past three years. What is interesting to note, is the choice of destinations within Germany made by the Indian travellers which include Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Cologne and Frankfurt, GNTO India's Director Marketing and Sales Romit Theophilus said. We encourage people to also explore the beautiful wide variety of landscapes available in Bavaria and Saxony. Germany makes for a delightful destination for families, honeymooners and young travelers alike, Theophilus added.
