19 Indian Haj pilgrims dead in Saudi Arabia



 Dubai Oct 16, 2011, (PT):Nineteen Indians, who came to Saudi Arabia to perform Haj, have died in the country while undertaking the annual pilgrimage, officials said on Saturday.
Nineteen of the 61,847 Indian pilgrims who arrived from India to perform Haj in Saudi Arabia are reported to have died so far, authorities said.
Of the total number of pilgrims who have already flown in from India, 27,487 are in Makkah and 34,345 are in Madinah, according to Consulate General of India in Jeddah."So far 223 flights have come from India and 8,177 pilgrims have moved from Makkah to Madinah. As of today, 19 pilgrims have expired, out of which 15 came through Haj Committee of India and four through private tour operators, the consulate statement said.
A maximum number of 20,268 have come from Delhi while 10,128 have come from Lucknow. Another 6,977 have flown out of Hyderabad while 8,400 have come from Kozhikode, the statement said.

Jeddah, Oct 14 (IANS) Sixteen Indian pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia while undertaking the annual Haj pilgrimage, an official statement said Friday.Also, the first child birth for an Indian pilgrim was reported from Madinah Friday. The baby girl was born to a couple from Uttar Pradesh.A total of 57,805 pilgrims have arrived from India, of which 22,792 are in Makkah and 35,001 pilgrims are in Madinah.So far, 209 flights have come from India.The Haj to Makkah, the holiest city for Muslims, is obligatory in Islam at least once in a lifetime.Madinah, the second most sacred city for Muslims, is the place where Prophet Mohammad was laid to rest and also has the three oldest mosques.
 Over 34,000 Indian Haj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia
Over 34,000 Haj pilgrims from India have arrived here for the annual pilgrimage.
According to a statement issued from the Consulate General of India, a total of 34,702 pilgrims have arrived from India, of them 1,823 pilgrims are in Makkah and 32,879 in Madina.
At least 4,401 pilgrims have moved from Makkah to Madina.
As of Saturday, four pilgrims have expired out of which three came through Haj Committee of India and one through a private tour operator.
A total 34,705 Hajis have come from different parts of India: Delhi (11,613), Guwahati (1,946), Hyderabad (3,085), Jaipur (1,795), Kozhikode (5,700), Lucknow (5,984), Mangalore (160), Ranchi (2171), and Varanasi (2,251).
So far, 127 Indian flights have brought these piligrims here.
The Haj to Makkah, the holiest city for Muslims, is obligatory in Islam at least once in a lifetime.
Madina, the second most sacred city for Muslims, is the burial place of Prophet Mohammad and also has the three oldest mosques.(IANS)
