HYDERABAD: The first Telangana daily— Namaste Telangana will hit the markets on Tuesday. The newspaper will be published from seven centres simultaneously, covering seven out of ten Telangana districts. The newspaper was formally launched at a function in the city by family members of Telangana martyrs.
After the Telangana Rashtra Samithi was founded in 2001 for the sole aim of separate Telangana state, there has been a demand for a vernacular daily to reflect the feelings of the people of the region. TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao’s efforts finally yielded and Telangana Publications brought out the daily.? Already a TV channel - T-News - was launched recently in support of T-state demand and it was a hit in the region.
Addressing the meeting, the TRS chief said that a Urdu daily - Rehabat Telangana - will also be launched on August 2, on the first day of Ramzan month.
Rao said ‘Namaste Telangana’ was people’s newspaper which would reflect the aspirations and feelings of the people of the region and highlight the agonies of the oppressed classes.
TJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram said: “It is our paper and will write about us.’’ Namaste Telangana MD? D Damodar Rao, director CL Rajam, editor Allam Narayana, CEO K Sekhar Reddy, T ideologue Prof Jayasankar, educationist Mahaboob Alam Khan, editors, poets and singers were present.
