AnotherTelugu student stabbed in London; S M Krishna assures help

LONDON/ NEW DELHI,Febrauary11,2012: A 26-year-old Indian MBA student was critically stabbed in the London borough of Newham last night and 11 persons have been arrested, Scotland Yard said today. This is the fourth attack on Indians in the last two months. Earlier three incidents were fatal. "Police called at 08.23 on Friday, 10 February to Newham General Hospital after a man in his 20's was admitted suffering from stab wounds. He is currently in hospital in a critical condition," Scotland Yard told PTI. "Officers believe the man sustained his injuries at an address in Kent Street, E13. Eleven people have been arrested. Four remain in custody. The other seven have been bailed until future dates. Detectives from Newham Borough are investigating," it added. Indian external affairs minister S M Krishna spoke to the acting high commissioner Rajesh Prasad, asking him to extend all possible help to him. Krishna also spoke to Andhara Pradesh-based businessman Sudhakar Reddy, father of the stabbed student, Praveen, assuring him of all help in getting visa, official sources in New Delhi said. They also said that high commission officials in the UK were coordinating with the doctors treating Praveen and MEA officials in Delhi will take up the matter with the British high commission to ensure expeditious issuance of the visa to his parents. In the earlier incidents, 23-year-old Anuj Bidve was shot dead in Greater Manchester in Salford on December 26. The UK Police also confirmed on January 10, the death of 20-year-old student Gurdeep Hayer in Manchester city centre. This was followed by the murder of Avatar Singh Kolar, 62, and his British wife Carole Kolar, 58, in Birmingham on January 11.

London,Febrauary11,2012: An Indian student, Pravin Reddy, doing an MBA at the London Business School was stabbed on Friday in the London borough of Newham Scotland Yard on Saturday said.Eleven people have been arrested following the stabbing of the Indian student who was not named by the Scotland Yard.As per standard practice, Scotland Yard did not name the victim, but said he is in hospital in a critical condition.Reports in the Indian media have identified the victim as Praveen Reddy, who was enrolled for an MBA at the London Business School.The uncle of the Hyderabad boy said, "We are hearing that surgical process has already started. He is recovering fast and is conscious. This is a complicated surgery. Police have said blood relatives should be there soon in case requirement of blood."UK High Commission issued a statement on Saturday saying, "We are establishing the facts and working closely with MEA. We will do everyhing so that the family can go and see their son. We are taking up the matter seriously. We want to tell you that UK is a safe country." Krishna also spoke to the stabbed student, Praveen Reddy's father and assured him all support in getting visa. There is no suggestion yet that the stabbing incident was motivated by race hatred.
