Vayalar Ravi expresses satisfaction over PBD 2012 preparations

Jaipur, December 21: According to a report in The Times of India, in a review meeting held in Delhi, Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) Vyalar Ravi has expressed his satisfaction over the ongoing preparations for Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2012. The report states that Rajendra Pareek, industry minister and Bina Kak, toursim minister informed Ravi about the preparations completed so far. The ministers from Rajasthan government also assured Ravi that state machinery is working relentlessly to put up a great show. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot is also regularly monitoring the progress. Ravi instructed officials to ensure the best arrangements for the guests and asked them to increase the efforts for publicity of the event in the media. He also asked officials to update the website giving every minute details of the event. During the meeting Purshotam Agarwal, commissioner of Rajasthan Foundation made a detailed presentation on the venues where the event will take place. Issues like security, protocol, transportation arrangement for guests were also discussed at length. Birla Auditorium in Jaipur will be the venue for Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2012. The aesthetically designed Birla auditorium is one of the most famous venues of the city. It hosts some of the renowned international events and exhibits. Over 1,500 delegates from across the globe are likely to participate in India’s annual diaspora conclave to be held in Jaipur Jan 7-9, 2012. Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar will be the chief guest at the 10th edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD). The theme of PBD 2012 will be “Global Indian-Inclusive Growth”. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is scheduled to inaugurate the event Jan 8, 2012 and President Pratibha Devisingh Patil will deliver the valedictory address and confer Pravasi Bhartiya Samman awards Jan 9.
The PBD 2012 will be organised by the ministry of overseas Indian affairs in partnership with government of Rajasthan. The Confederation of Indian Industry is the institutional partner of the event.
