Indian American teen wins Massachusetts State Beauty Pageant

BOSTON: Miss Teen Massachusetts-World 2011 Pavit Arora is enjoying her fast-rising modeling career as she participates in local shows and rounds the pageant circuit. "I went to my first pageant knowing absolutely nothing," she said, according to India New England. Since then, the 15-year-old has garnered the Massachusetts Jr. Teen crown in addition to her most recent win.
Arora has managed to parlay her pageant success into several prominent modeling stints. Represented by the Boston-based agency Dynasty Model & Talent, Arora has participated in Boston Fashion Week and shows for fashion industry giants Michael Kors and Betsey Johnson.
Arora believes that her South Asian identity sets her apart in modeling. She wants to encourage young Indian girls to enter the fashion industry and dispel false notions of what constitutes beauty.
While modeling remains of prime interest to Arora, she is committed to helping others and pursues projects in philanthropy and oral health programs. In addition to being a student at Milton Academy, she works part-time at Oxford Dental. Recently, she has developed a charity initiative called Extreme Dental Makeover, which will grant one teenager and one adult a free dental consultation and dental surgery. She has established law school as a long-term career goal.
Currently, Arora is gearing up for the Miss Teen United States-World pageant in Houston this June. Later this summer, she will work with top designers during India Fashion Week.
